Innovation at Wharton is encapsulated in the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) presently located in the Sun Lounge of Vance Hall. Our preliminary concept for the new Wharton SBDC revolves around the idea that the very real activity of innovation occurs in the interaction of students, clients and staff over the development of a project. Our proposed identity of both Wharton and the SBDC is expressed by a canopy and signage that are seen as “inserted” into the entrance of Vance Hall. The separate offices and meetings rooms in the SBDC are rendered in glass, allowing full visibility of discussions, ideas and the process of innovation.
