A Plane A Glow in A Field:
Flemington Jewish Community Center Competition, June 2001.

The site of the new FJCC is defined by a recessed, gently sloping grass plane carved from the extant fallow farmers field. This grass plane continues through the entire site, from the parking lot, through the social hall, to the school building, uniting the differing functions of the community center. The perimeter of the recessed grass plan is highlighted by a “light retaining wall.” Composed of phosphorescent material, the wall continues to glow gently illuminating the entire plane as dusk descends bringing the Sabbath.
