smart surface
These smart surface studies look to that future and propose an environment
that is composed of only two architectural surfaces; the ceiling plane
and the floor plane. These planes are comprised of translucent latex
rubber stretched taut over a robotic ”animator” subsurface.
When not occupied, the surfaces are neutral, beige. Upon occupation,
voice and motion recognition technology activate the surface, self-manipulating
it to precisely contour it to accommodate various domestic functions,
be it dining, recreation, bathing, procreation or sleep. Lighting,
color, scent and sound are adjusted to enhance each specific experience.
