kOnyk architecture was selected along with Acconci Studio, Freecell, Leslie Gill, Laura Kurgan and Natalie Jeremijenko as finalists in Reconfiguring Space: Blueprints for ART in GENERAL, a competition to redesign the gallery spaces of ART in GENERAL. We propose that ART in GENERAL be reoriented toward Cortlandt Alley, creating a new “front.” This would allow the absorption of Cortlandt Alley as a curatorial venue. Block parties, street performance, new media installations, etc. are facilitated by attaching a new skin, a “performance surface”
